![]() ![]() Yeah, I'm not sure how it'll actually work out. (Well, it's 6:30am anyways.) Guy or girl though? I just had to google "wild-eyed" and now I might never sleep. Have you posted something about the start of the game making that non-discussing problematic? Or was that another slave-person(errr)? I have no idea were I red that, just reminded me of it.ĭon't get your hopes up. I can't quite visualize the personality right now, but that might be a good thing. I'm planning on refusing to discuss my slave past at the beginning, being pretty open about other stuff, and hopefully having the option to slowly reveal my slave past over the course of the game as I deal with the problems and issues facing me.Ī dream portrait would require an Orlan who is, at the least, scarred and a little wild-eyed. Specifically, I'm going to play an Orlan Cipher from Old Vaila who is fleeing his slave past and has gone a little crazy and a little native in the Dyrwood courteous, polite, passionate, and viciously/brutally pragmatic. Why would you try to shame an artist for taking some precautions? Or for wanting to just share her work without literally opening it up to others to use however they'd like? I don't really understand that. If you're interested in using an artist's work for some other purpose, and the artist hasn't stated whether or not that's okay, it's customary to ask first. Sure you could go ahead and do whatever you want to it. Artists retain copyright over their work from the moment it's created and published. You can't just assume that art is a free resource to use however you'd like. It's also not unusual for people to try to pass artwork off as their own, or to try to make a profit off of artwork that is not theirs. It's not at all unreasonable for an artist to watermark her work, on the off chance that at some point the artwork is separated from the source. Most people just do not take the time to source art properly. it's super common, especially with places like Tumblr or imgur, for an artist's work to get spread around uncredited. These are really amazing! You should do commissions, I think a lot of people here would take you up on it.Īs for people complaining about the watermark. I implore you to feel confident enough in your artistic ability to distribute your work freely, everyone here will love you for it. I won't because you haven't given permission, but I find that extremely silly. I could erase your watermark in seconds without damaging the original background and post it here cropped and ready to be used in game within about 10 minutes. You shouldn't expect the people here to look and not touch. This isn't anti sales either, as the moment you sell a work of art you must also let it go. The moment you become paranoid about 'keeping' the work you have already created is the moment you start losing the ability to create more. I tend to follow the Mandala Creed, wherein one's creative works should not be hoarded but instead set free to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the work. ![]() That way it just sounds like it would make any signatures or watermarks disqualifying in a community setting.Īs a creative myself, I have to tell you that there is value in your work beyond self promotion. at worst that makes them non-portrait-ready fanart. ![]() I mean, it might not be ideal, but seriously. Update 4, : Corrections in some male small portraits and additional portraits (new total 67 female & 32 male = 99).However, saying that "it defeats of purpose of posting them in a community setting" is somewhat over the top, in my opinion. Update 3, : Additional godlike aspect portraits (new total, 88 portraits) and small existing picture adjustments. Additional corrections in picture positioning using Photoshop to add textures to the top of some pictures lacking space (examples: bgii_aerie_sm.png, se_legend_sm.png). Including plenty of Baldur's Gate characters (tribute to one of the best games of all time) and Shadow Era heroes and companions. Update 2, : Increased the total number of portraits from 39 to 77. Update 1, : Smaller pictures positioning corrected. (I did not create the original images)Īll you need to do is copy them in this folders:Ĭ:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\art\gui\portraits\player\maleĬ:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Pillars of Eternity\PillarsOfEternity_Data\data\art\gui\portraits\player\female Some of them are taken from artwork designed for other famous videogames or directly from artwork created by artists like Luis Royo. I just wanted to share a set of character portraits I made for myself.
